Blog Post 7:Public PLN – Balancing PLN & Public Discourse

Social media platforms create an opportunity for public figures such as educators, lawyers, and government officials. The positive effects of using social media platforms and communicating with people in space indicate that an individual has the potential benefits for retrieving information from the audience and sharing content that informs the audience (Sophie, 2020). However, media platforms become risk because they provide access to personal details, thus hindering privacy. Therefore, personal information may be spread without knowing trust.

Addressing the negative critics and comments on employers’ decision to terminate an employee for using social media platforms for personal gain requires evidence of the guidelines and monitoring of the use of social media platforms among employees.

This process should be accompanied by information about the dangers of employee actions, such as exposing the organization’s data to attacks and exposing the company to false claims that appear to be true (Hirst, 2018).  For example, if an individual post personal information on a company’s social media platforms promoting another company, this decision can expose the organization into law suits of imitation of marketing messages.

Celebrities and notable people use social media platforms for similar reasons as other people. The primary reason for using social media platforms is to remain connected with other people, thus enhancing personal skills and knowledge about a natural phenomenon.

Being a public eye and possession of personal network development creates an opportunity for people to engage in activities that enhance the individual experience and increase awareness of the different areas that can promote personal career development. For instance, PLN and being a public eye extend the social network, opening opportunities such as internship programs, sponsorship programs, or job opportunities.

Building a community with online tools issued by the employer can be limiting because it prevents an individual from exploring options outside the professional account expectations.  This disadvantage arises from the absence of an opportunity to build a social network (Hirst, 2018). However, this system is beneficial because people have opportunities for career development within one’s profession.

Reliable PLN requires an individual to take precautions in the initial steps to ensure the information’s verifiability. These steps need calling for forming a PLN consisting of people with common goals and interests. Additionally, members should be able to meet in the real world. The veteran storytellers minimize the risks for sharing misinformation by examining the source of information to authenticity.

    Hi Jiani,

Thank you for sharing your blog post. Personally, I feel your post is pretty informative and detailed. I agree with your opinion about that notable people also use social media tools to connect with others and enhance personal skills. However, in my opinion, for most notable people, they also use social media tools and their influence to promote services or products for different brands in order to earn money. Did you buy products that have celebrity endorsement on their social media before?

Here I want to share a blog post about celebrity endorsement via social media. In this blog post, it clearly shows its benefits, drawbacks and ways.
